The Ram 1500 is an outlier in the full-size pickup truck category in the sense that it mostly focuses on delivering maximum comfort to its passengers.
Stellantis' bread-and-butter pickup truck features the smoothest and quietest ride in the category, along with a luxurious interior while keeping the excellent on-road and off-road dynamics intact.
You can clearly see that I'm a fan of the Ram 1500 and the way it drives, but that's only true if you fit good tires on it.
The serene driving experience can quickly turn into a loud mess if the tires are noisy, and you can lose a lot of on-road and off-road traction if the tires aren't up to snuff.
Even in these modern times, the tires are the single most important thing on any vehicle, and going cheap isn't an option; well, at least in my opinion.
But choosing the best tires for Ram 1500 isn't an easy task. See, pickup trucks are the most versatile vehicles – they can tow and haul, they can go off-road, and smoothly cover long distances.
The thing is, there is no truck tire in the world that versatile! Namely, some tires will work better with smaller loads; others will shine with a trailer attached. And then we have off-road-capable tires, which add another variable into the mix.
But don't worry, as we'll uncover everything in my best tires for Ram 1500 review. Unlike other tire review websites, I divided the models into categories so you can easily choose a model that fits your requirements.
For instance, touring all-season tires will be great for general trucking, while highway all-season tires will be better for doing some heavy-duty stuff.
Then, all-terrain tires are a great option for people that require higher off-road traction, while snow (winter) tires are the best option for those that live in areas with very harsh wintry conditions.
As always, there is a short review on every tire – make sure you read them thoroughly before making a decision because you'll be living for a few years with these tires!
So, without further ado, let's have a closer look at the best Ram 1500 tires.

The Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra plays perfectly with the qualities of the Ram 1500, providing the smoothest ride in the category, even when you drive over broken pavement.
And while it isn't as quiet as its premium competition, it's still silent enough in the Ram 1500, thanks to the truck's excellent sound insulation.
On the street, the Alenza AS Ultra is an excellent performer, with a very direct and natural steering, accompanied by excellent lateral grip in dry conditions.
The stopping distances are a bit longer but still within the limits of what I'd call safe.
Meanwhile, you won't have any issues in the rain – the Alenza AS Ultra provides excellent traction and behaves very well at the limit.
As for snowy conditions, Bridgestone's touring tire is capable of providing good traction, but crucially, it's easy to drive and predictable.
The best thing about the Alenza AS Ultra is that it comes with an 80,000-mile treadwear warranty, which is by far the highest in the category.

2. Cooper Endeavor Plus
Best Touring All-Season Tires for Budget

Valid through April 30, 2024
Available at TireRack.com - DiscountTire.com
The Endeavor Plus is a noticeably louder tire than the Alenza AS Ultra, but even then, it's quieter than similarly-priced rivals.
This is a budget-friendly tire, after all, and some shortcomings are to be expected. Crucially, apart from the slight tread growl, the Endeavor Plus is good in all other areas.
I was particularly impressed with the rain traction, which is higher than any other budget tire.
Moreover, Cooper's touring model is easy to drive in the wet, with predictable behavior at the limit.
The dry handling and traction are also excellent for the category, and the snow traction is among the best for the price.
Besides, the ride quality on this tire is buttery-smooth, especially on the already comfortable Ram 1500.
Lastly, Cooper offers a 65,000-mile treadwear warranty on the Endeavor Plus, which is frankly excellent for the price.

Cons
3. Continental TerrainContact H/T
Best Highway All-Season Tires for Rain Traction
The TerrainContact H/T is my favorite Ram 1500 highway all-season tire, particularly because it's supremely quiet on the highway and very comfortable over bumps.
With these tires on, driving your Ram 1500 will feel like a magic carpet ride.
But don't let that fool you into thinking the TerrainContact H/T doesn't perform. Sure, the steering is a bit vague, but no other highway tire can beat the Continental in overall traction, regardless of the conditions.
This tire provides the best driving dynamics in its category on wet tarmac, accompanied by the shortest stopping distances.
Furthermore, the dry lateral grip is excellent, even when your truck is loaded to the teeth, and the highway stability is commendable.
To top it all off, the TerrainContact H/T has the best snow traction of any tire in its category, meaning it accelerates the quickest and stops in the shortest manner. Oh, it also helps that the handling is very predictable, and there is even some traction on ice-covered roads.
And if that wasn't enough to impress you, Continental provides a class-leading 70,000-mile treadwear warranty on regular sizes and a 60,000-mile warranty on LT-metric sizes.

Cons
4. Michelin Defender LTX M/S
Best Highway All-Season Tires for Towing or Hauling
The Defender LTX M/S is perhaps the best Ram 1500 tire for towing large trailers and hauling heavy cargo, thanks to the tough and heat-resistant casing.
It also provides exceptional highway stability, strong braking, and excellent lateral traction, regardless if your truck is loaded or unloaded.
Rain traction is also excellent – not on the level of the TerrainContact H/T, but very, very close. The Defender LTX M/S also performs well at the limit, making driving in rainy conditions a child's play.
On top of that, Michelin's highway tire will give you enough traction to accelerate, brake, and steer on snow.
Comfort levels are also excellent with this tire, both in terms of ride and quietness.
Finally, this is one of the most durable truck tires, a fact covered by independent tests and thousands of happy customers across the world.

5. Firestone Destination LE3
Best Highway All-Season Tires for Budget
Save $80 Instantly on Four Select Firestone Tires
Valid through April 7, 2024
Available at TireRack.com - DiscountTire.com
If the TerrainContact H/T and Defender LTX M/S are too expensive for you, then the Destination LE3 is an excellent option.
Firestone's highway tire isn't as smooth over bumps as its rivals, but Ram 1500's suspension will take care of that easily.
The only thing you'll have to leave with is the loud thump on impacts – other than that, it is a very capable tire.
Notably, the Destination LE3 provides excellent traction in dry and wet conditions, accompanied by surefooted handling.
The tire is also easy to drive in snowy conditions, with positive steering, though with slightly lower traction levels.
Still, the steering is direct and natural, regardless of the surface, giving you more control over the drive.
Firestone offers an excellent 70,000-mile treadwear warranty for the price.

6. Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015
Best Cheap All-Terrain Tires for Quiet Ride
With excellent on-road drivability and capable off-road traction, the Geolandar A/T G015 is the all-terrain tire to beat at the moment.
Notably, this is one of my favorite on-road all-terrain models, with good traction on dry and wet tarmac and even solid light-snow traction.
Off-roading is also a breeze, particularly if you mostly drive over dirt, gravel, turf, and sand. This might've taken the toll on the ride, which can feel a bit harsh, but Ram 1500's suspension can easily remedy that, anyway.
Crucially, the Geolandar A/T G015 is very quiet, even on the highway, which isn't a given in the category.

7. BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2
Best All-Terrain Tires for Ram 1500
Save $80 Instantly on Four Select BFGoodrich Tires
Valid through April 15, 2024
Available at TireRack.com
The All-Terrain T/A KO2 is easily the most popular tire in its category, largely because it provides undefeated off-road traction.
Namely, this is a tire that works in mud and over large rocks, where most all-terrain tires struggle.
Despite that, the T/A KO2 is still very capable on the street, with solid traction and drivability on dry and wet roads.
If I nitpick, the rain traction is lower than on some newer all-terrain tires, but it's still not bad at all.
Meanwhile, the snow traction is excellent for the category, accompanied by surefooted handling.
Finally, the T/A KO2 is one of the most durable all-terrain tires, with a puncture-resistant casing that gives you peace of mind everywhere you go.

8. Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T
Best All-Terrain Tires for Ram 1500
Get $100 rebate on select Mickey Thompson Tires
Valid through April 15, 2024
Available at TireRack.com - DiscountTire.com
Mickey Thompson specializes in producing off-road tires, and that shows with the Baja Boss A/T.
The company's all-terrain model is a real off-road beast, with outstanding traction on hardpacked surfaces, turf, and sand and very good traction in mud and over large rocks.
If you need an off-road-capable all-terrain tire, this is the one to choose.
Now, Baja Boss A/T is also an excellent performer over unpacked snow, the type you encounter when off-roading, but it also works on packed snow.
It's also somehow smooth and quiet on the highway, despite its aggressive appearance.
However, the Baja Boss A/T suffers a bit on the street, as the dry/wet traction is lower than what the competition offers.

9. Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2
Best Winter (Snow) Tires for Ram 1500
Get $80 off a set of 4 Bridgestone tires
Valid through April 7, 2024
Available at TireRack.com - DiscountTire.com
Get $30 back by mail when you spend $500 or more
Valid through April 30, 2024
Available at TireRack.com
The Blizzak DM-V2 is by far the best studless winter tire for Ram 1500.
It provides best-in-class traction on packed and unpacked snow, balanced handling, predictable behavior at the limit, and best-in-class braking.
And even though you can't put studs on it, the ice traction is still excellent.
Now, while the DM-V2 feels a bit like the winter tires of yore in terms of noise and steering response, it's actually the most capable product in its category on dry and wet surfaces.
The rain braking is particularly impressive, beating the competition by a significant margin.

10. Firestone Winterforce 2 UV
Best Winter (Snow) Tires for Ram 1500
Save $80 Instantly on Four Select Firestone Tires
Valid through April 7, 2024
Available at TireRack.com - DiscountTire.com
If you really need a studdable snow tire, the Winterforce 2 UV is the one to go for.
Even without the studs, this tire provides good snow and ice traction, paired with balanced handling.
And while it lags behind the Blizzak DM-V2 in overall traction without the studs, it beats its rival when you put them on, especially over ice.
The real downside of the Winterforce 2 UV is the slightly lower wet traction than its direct rival, which you can also feel on slush. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't come close to the DM-V2.
Like its rival, the Winterforce 2 UV is louder than I would've liked, but the ride is at least very smooth.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Do I need LT-metric tires on my Ram 1500?
LT-metric tires often come in similar sizes to P-metric tires, but the differences end there. Namely, P-metric tires are closer to regular passenger car tires in terms of construction and rigidity.
Meanwhile, LT-metric tires are closer to commercial models, meaning they have a much stiffer body.
Tire manufacturers often use more rubber and plies inside the casing to increase the rigidity of LT-metric sizes, giving them superior load capacity. Hence, these tires are useful for hauling very heavy cargo or towing very large trailers.
However, they are especially suited to off-roading because the stiffer casing allows for driving at lower pressures, which helps with traction on sand and rocks, and also makes the whole tire more durable.
With that in mind, Ram only recommends putting regular P-metric tires on the Ram 1500 pickup truck. That's because, for most people, these tires have enough load capacity to successfully tow a medium trailer and carry any cargo you'll throw in the bed.
Besides, P-metric tires are more comfortable over bumps, are quieter on the highway, and generally have longer treadlife.
Still, you can upgrade to LT-metric tires if you really need the added load capacity. Just make sure that the tires fit your truck perfectly, without touching the body, and you'll be fine.
While we are on the topic, tire manufacturers also offer "flotation" sizes, which are a step above LT-metric tires in terms of stiffness and dimensions.
These tires are true behemoths and are designed for off-road driving, giving you maximum traction and durability in the most demanding conditions.
However, they are also very loud on the highway, not very comfortable, and suffer from stability issues at higher speeds.
So, always go for a tire size that suits your driving needs – for most Ram 1500 owners, that will be a set of P-metric tires, but some might upgrade to LT-metric or flotation sizes!
- What's the difference between highway and touring all-season tires?
Touring all-season tires are primarily designed for light-duty crossovers, SUVs, and pickup trucks.
Although SUV-specific models do come with larger sidewalls and higher load ratings than their passenger-car counterparts, they are still aiming for a quiet and comfortable ride and safe traction in dry, wet, and snowy conditions.
Hence, for most Ram 1500 owners, touring all-season tires will fit in their lifestyles just fine.
Namely, they will provide excellent drivability on the street, paired with high levels of comfort and outstanding treadlife – considering you don't put them through some challenging off-road courses, particularly hardpacked surfaces.
Highway tires are similar to touring tires in a way that they are designed to work better on the street.
However, they usually come in larger load ratings and are also available in LT-metric sizes, whereas touring models are P-metric-only.
Hence, these tires will better fit the lifestyle of a truck owner that tows large trailers or hauls heavy cargo, as they will be more stable on the road thanks to the slightly stiffer casing.
However, highway all-season tires can't beat their touring counterparts in overall traction, including dry and wet conditions, and the comfort levels will be lower.
Still, I think most Ram 1500 owners will be ready to accept the compromises if the tires give them additional ruggedness.
- Are all-terrain tires good for off-roading?
The Ram 1500 is a fairly capable off-roader, but it's not the best truck for driving on slippery trails out there.
Hence, I wouldn't recommend putting mud-terrain tires on it, except if you are very inclined towards challenging off-road driving.
For most Ram 1500 owners, a set of all-terrain tires will be more than enough for a successful escape in the wilderness.
These tires are designed to give you higher off-road traction than highway and touring tires while sacrificing little on-road traction and comfort.
However, you should note that not every all-terrain tire is equal – some feature milder tread patterns, designed to work mostly on hardpacked surfaces, turf, and sand.
Meanwhile, all-terrain tires with a more aggressive tread pattern will give you some traction in mud and over large rocks, but they are usually noisier and not as good to drive on the street.
Conclusion
Above are the in-depth reviews of the best tires for Ram 1500 that you should refer to.
As you probably learned by now, buying tires is always about compromises – there is no tire in the world that does everything perfectly.
And while I can point out the differences between each model, it's on you to make the decision based on what you learned while keeping in mind your needs and driving style.
By purchasing a set of Ram 1500 tires that will fulfill your demands, you'll ensure happy trucking in the years to come!
